“Great service and a brilliant day out to Golden Bay – Wharariki Beach – Farewell Spit
We are two Brits who wanted to go to the most northerly part of the south island so booked a tour at the local I-site (it is cheaper if you book direct but we found this out later). Karin collected us from our campsite at 9 am and we were the only travellers that day. Karin was friendly and professional and even knew that we had expressed interest in visiting the salmon farm on route so said there would be time for this. We drove to Cape Farewell with Karin sharing local knowledge about the Abel Tasman national park, vineyards, orchards etc.. She took us to viewpoints so we could take photos and we stopped for coffee at Cape Farewell and admire Farewell Spit. She then took us to the amazing Wharariki Beach. This has become my favourite beach. The country walk to the beach is past green fields and hills with inquisitive sheep before approaching sand dunes and then the most picturesque beach..golden sand, huge and fascinating rock formations. After walking a while we saw baby seal pups playing in a rock pool. Just amazing.
Karin then drove us to Te Whaikoropupu Springs – incredible blue, clear waters that bubble up from the earth below. She then took us to the salmon farm where did not catch anything but was fun. She then took us for a quick beer tasting at local boutique brewery called the Hop Federation before dropping us back to our campsite at Motueka at 6 pm.
Highly recommend Tasman Tours. Karin is lovely and we just enjoyed the day, the experience and her company taking us to places we may not have found for ourselves.”
